A few notes about bike assembly

Some assembly is required for most of our bicycle products. While most of the bicycles that we sell can be assembled easily, we strongly recommend professional assembly for your safety and riding enjoyment.

Most bikes are shipped about 85% assembled.

To make them ride-worthy, the following assembly steps are usually required:

  • Remove all packaging
  • Install handlebars and seat
  • Install front wheel
  • Install pedals: IMPORTANT- the left side pedal is a reverse thread. (Turn counterclockwise to tighten. Failure to do so will result stripping the left crank arm and is considered a non warranty claim.)
  • Add any fenders, reflectors, accessories and/or decorative items

Most customers find that they can comfortably complete their own assembly in 30 to 60 minutes, depending on their comfort level using tools, mechanical aptitude, and what model bike they have chosen. There are many websites that have videos that show the step-by-step instructions for proper bicycle assembly.

NOTE: Partial disassembly of bikes for shipping purposes is an industry standard, it is not unique to Bikes4Families. If you order a bicycle to be shipped directly to you, whether from us or another company, the bike will still require assembly before use.

NOTE: While the list of assembly steps above is standard for most bikes, actual assembly requirements vary from bike to bike and manufacturer to manufacturer.

NOTE: Professional assembly is not included in the purchase price of our bikes. Any additional cost related to adjustments to gears and brakes are the responsibility of the owner. Assembly costs incurred are not credited back if bicycle is returned.
